Jan Hornbaker McKeel was born in Stafford and grew up in Tempe, Arizona. To her parent’s dismay, she changed her degree 4 times and attended three universities before settling on Library Science and Information Services. Jan’s first library job was working as an assistant to the Collection Development Manager at Burton Barr, the main branch of the Phoenix Public Library. She went on to work as development director and grants and data manager for two nonprofits in San Diego. Jan is also a sailor, ghostwriter, and small animal wrangler to one border collie and a small cat who thinks he’s big. Jan and her husband John live in St. John, where John ministers to the St. John Church of Christ.
